Can a Tune-Up Help Your PC
by Ralph Walker Sr. on Oct.29, 2009, under Windows XP and Vista Updates for Hardware and Software
How to know it is time to Tune-Up your PC. Your PC can will become sluggish and unresponsive over time. If you are running Windows XP or Vista, the OS does not automatically keep the system in check. The built in tools like defrag and disk check or not the best.
The your computer take a long time to load? Or you getting errors when your computer boots? Does your hard drive seem to be spinning to much.
In my experiences most issues can be traced back to a anti-virus related issues or your computer is currently infected. This will make your computer running very slow. An infected computer will take longer to boot. Some or none of your programs will load. You will get message that your computer is infected and you will be asked daily or hourly to scan and purchase this software now because you have been infected by 100’s of virus. Don’t believe the hype. This is a tactic of a new breed of software called scare ware. Scare ware makes you think you are infected, when you are not. However if the scare ware is not removed in time your computer will be infected. Around 80% of all personal computers are currently infected. If your computer is infected and you need it be cleaned and protected, I offer this service remotely for $75.00. Go here for the Virus Removal and Protection Service.
However if you are currently protected and your PC just needs a PC Tuneup this can be done for only $25.00. If you are reading this online these services can be preform remotely, just go here. Remote Tuneup Services. Your computer will be faster and it will lockup less. I will also tell you the amount of hard drive space you have and if more RAM will help your PC. One of the best upgrades you can do for your PC desktop or notebook is to increase your RAM.

When is it time to call a Pro?
by Ralph Walker Sr. on Oct.08, 2009, under Windows XP and Vista Updates for Hardware and Software
Here are some guidelines on when is it time to call a professional computer service company.
I work in this field and I thought this would be a good subject to tackle today. A lot of time when I get calls, I never know what type of issues I am getting into. Sure I realize it is a virus related issue but there are a lot of questions that I would like to know before leaving for the customer site. Here is my list and hopefully it will help you decide on when and who to call.
- What is the name of the infection that is causing the problem?
- Did you recently purchase or download anything related to fixing your your computer for example virus, registry cleaners?
- Do you have your original Windows XP or Vista CD?
- Do you have your driver CD?
- Do you have a recent backup of your data?
Only 5 questions, but boy are they big. Most of the time I have to call and ask these questions myself.
Let me explain the first one. Knowing the type of infection or Malware that is crashing your computer will save you money and time on the service call. So please tell the tech or the dispatcher what is infecting your computer.
Most infections are due to the recent download of some FREE software or the computer was infected by some bogus anti-virus or anti-spy ware that inform you of your computer becoming infected. It also could be from the bloatware that was installed when you purchase your computer from the store. This is the root of all infected computers. Most people do not remove for example Norton completely from your computer. Unless your renew your Anti-virus subscription you will 100% of the time get infected. So you are not to blame.
OK so here is the third issue that is a big one. Do you have your original Windows CD. 90% of the time the answer is NO. I do not know where that is, or I never received one. You are right you mostly did not receive one. Most if not all manufacturers are cutting cost. If you did not opt to pay for your original CD or make a backup copy when you first boot up your computer. You will never find that CD. Us service guys really need to know that one.
I try to fix my customers on one trip. It is so many things that you have to do to get a infected computer back to normal operation that it is impossible to finish in a timely manner. Having the answers to these 5 questions will really help. What I only answer 3. Yea, I know come back tomorrow and I will answer the other tools and I will let you in on some great tools and free software that will get your computer better than new.
I have to go and see my son play football. It is FRIDAY NIGHTS LIGHTS ON THUSDAY.

Stopping and Removing Scare Ware Software
After being attacked by a Scare Ware program called Doctor Virus, which tried to scan my PC while logging into my face book account. I learned a valuable lesson that I will share with you today. If you’re connected to the Internet your computer is mostly likely infected. More than 80 percent of all computers are currently infected and most people do not even realize it. More on that later. Here is the solution to stopping a Malware attack. All you need to do is press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys. I normally press and hold down the Ctrl-Alt keys and then press the Del key. This will bring up the Task Manager. It may look something like the below screenshot. Now click on the application tab and KILL that offending application. In my incident it was a program called Doctor Virus. Just highlight the process you want to kill and click on end task. Simple but it works. Your infection may be different here is current list as of 10/2009.
Below is a list of current Malware or fake Anti-Virus that is floating around on the Internet:
SpySherrif – Also can be called System Security, SpywareStrike, SpyShredder and Spybot
WinFixer – Also can be called WinAntiSpyware, AVSystemCare, WinAntiSpy and Windows Police Pro
MacSweeper- Also can be called KiVVi Software, Cleanator.
Green Antivirus 2009 – Also known as Green AV
Ms Anti-Virus 2009 – Also known as Windows Antivirus, Win Antivirus, Antivirus Pro and Antivirus Pro 2009 and Doctor Virus
As you can see these programs change their name constantly almost daily. If your computer is infected by one of these listed programs your computer may exhibited the following symptoms.

If caught in time you can remove all of these infections by using an updated Malware scanner. I highly recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, you can download it here. This is the free version. Download it to your desktop. Install it and before you scan, make sure you update it. Once it is updated. Do a quick scan or complete scan, both options work. The quick scan takes 30 minutes, the complete scan takes hours, depending on your hard drive capacity. Once it finds any infections it will display everything that if finds. Select the remove all options. Now you need to reboot the PC. Your PC should be virus FREE and back to normal operation.
As mention before this is the FREE version. For a better and hassle free 24-7 PC protection, I highly recommend the Professional version of Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware, you can order it here only $24.95. The software will automatically update itself and it will scan and delete any infections that if finds. If you have not been infected, you will and if you do not have a copy of Windows XP or Vista to reload your computer. You will need a professional computer technician to service your computer. Average cost of a 2-3 hour service call to reload your operating system and to reconfigure your hardware devices is about $299.00 or more.
Thanks,

What Anti-Virus are you using?
by Ralph Walker Sr. on Oct.05, 2009, under Virus Related
Anti-Virus are not created equal. I have used Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee, AVG, Spy Sweeper to name a few. Most of them seem to slow my computer down. This is why I got into cleaning Malware from computers. In my quest for finding a Anti-Virus solution that was able to protect me and not degrade PC performance.
After purchasing a new computer from Dell I notice something was causing my computer to stall. It came with Norton Anti-Virus but I installed Spy Sweeper to protect my computer. More the better right. Now I know this is what crashed my computer. I discovered that you can not have two Anti-Virus programs active at the same time. Both are trying to do the same thing. Protect your computer. Well you can, however they can not be loaded in memory. My computer got infected and it crashed. I now know that the two virus definitions for Norton and Spy Sweeper corrupted my Windows XP and I eventually got infected.
So I had to reload my operating system. I needed a new Anti-Virus protection. That’s where I found Avast. Download avast! antivirus software a complete virus protection with anti-spy-ware technology offering full desktop security including a resident shield. It’s FAST and works flawlessly with Windows XP and Windows Vista, it will be compatible with Windows 7 too.
From its headquarters in the Czech Republic, Avast is able to completely secure your computer with automatic updates that notifies you by audio daily. It is a great tool and I use it exclusively. All my customers agree to use Avast after I tell them how much better it is over Norton. Click on this link to get a you copy of Avast. Try it for free for 60 days.
I need to add that just installing Avast will not fix your computer. In fact it may make it worse. You need to follow the below steps to get your computer more stable and secure.
1. Remove old or any Anti-Virus software currently installed.
2. Reboot.
3. Clean your computer with this program. Most computers are not currently protected. If this is your case, you computer is most likely infected. So you need to get it clean first. Install Malwarebytes, click here now. This is a FREE utility, however if you really want to protect your computer get the professional version here. I use the Professional version and I have not gotten infected in 4 years and counting. After you download Malwarebytes, install it, update and scan your computer. Remove any infections that it finds.
4. Now you can install Avast Anti-Virus and reboot. You are now protected and secure.

This is funny.

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership.
Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.
“Amazing,” he thought as he flew down I-95, pushing the pedal even more.
Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a State Trooper, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.
He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120.
Suddenly he thought, ”What am I doing? I’m too old for this!” and pulled over to await the trooper’s arrival.
Pulling in behind him, the trooper got out of his vehicle and walked up to the the Corvette.
He looked at his watch, then said, ”Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday.
If you can give me a new reason for speeding–a reason I’ve never before heard– I’ll let you go.”
The old gentleman paused then said:
“Three years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper . I thought you were bringing her back.”
“Have a good day, sir,” replied the trooper

Went to the site. This was an old computer. I was inform the computer had been running for 15 plus years. So I started working on the computer. No video was showing on the monitor. So I check the cables and it was secure. I rebooted no video still. I tried another known working monitor. Still no video. I did not have a video card. So I took it home. Look in my spare parts bin. I had no PCI video cards. So I had to go out to get one. Plug it in and no go. Remove all cards, still not post. Remove memory and install one memory at a time. Still no post.
I recalled when opening the system the CPU fan was not turning. I did not smell any odor but I suspect that the CPU overheated. I have seen this problem before and replacing the cpu fix the problem. However this computer was so old that the customer did not want to spend the money to replace the CPU.
Stay tune for my next job.

How Easy Online Tools Can Remove Any Malware – The Secret Costly Computer Techs Aren’t Telling You!
by Ralph Walker Sr. on Sep.30, 2009, under Malware Related
Malware is like a computer virus, in that it gets into your PC without your knowledge, and it harms things it shouldn’t affect, whether it’s rooting through the data on your computer, or doing something hazardous like corrupting important system files leaving you to question what’s taking place. Malware can get in your PC any number of ways, and once it gets into your PC you may not be able to stop it from doing damage to your operating system. Often it might seem as if all is lost, and currently it may very well be, but fortunately there are ways to delete Malware.
So, how do you remove malware?
You should try malware cleaning tools, which are available on the Internet. This software looks at each file in your computer and checks it with all known malware. When the malware file has been discovered, you can delete it from your system. Ordinarily you will decide to erase the malware app, unless it has attached itself to some other data file that you need.
Malware may not impact your computer right away, but there might be a day when it will hit. So by running these online malware detecting apps, you will stay on top of this horrible problem and protect your computer from any damage.
As a computer repair specialist that fixes computers all day long I know that it is often less complicated and cheaper to use a malware removal app than it is to hire a computer specialist. Save your money and use the same tools that I do!
The best software I have found for this http://www.spyware-fixer.inforemoving malware is: http://www.spyware-fixer.info MalwareRemovalBot!
